Workshop for Everyone—no prior bookbinding experience necessary

Long stitch is a simple yet elegant binding that can be used for many different styles of hand bound book.  You will design cover and spine of your book, choosing from or creating your own patterned papers.  We will also experiment with the inside of the book, using blank papers, found text, pages with surface design, and re-purposed materials.  We will be using bookboard and a bookbinding adhesive to attach our pages to our cover, however, this binding can be used with stiff cloth covers or leather covers as well.  We will use waxed linen thread to sew the pages together with the option to have the stitches exposed on the spine of the book.  At the end of class each of us will have a hand bound book that can be used as a journal, photo album, guest book, and more!
